Pho Than is a nice little restaurant with several locations spread throughout the Seattle area. My husband and I walked by the University District location many times and only recently decided to give it a try. From the outside it is unimpressive - the entire restaurant is crowded into a single small, very bright but boring room. The walls, ceiling, floors, and tabletops are all a dingy shade of white! However, after you take the chance to venture inside, you notice that all but a couple of tables are full. In fact, you're always greeted by tables full of satisfied customers. If the tables are all filled, then there is a large table in the center that you're always welcome to sit at and maybe make a new friend. We had to see what the fuss is all about. Our first visit to Pho Than was impressive. The menu offered so many types of pho; we just couldn't decide what to order! Vegetable, chicken, meat ball, and beef varieties are all included, and there are four different sizes to satisfy the tiniest craving to the hungriest appetite. We are big eaters (we always finish our plates at restaurants) and a medium was the perfect amount. The serving sizes are much bigger than you'd imagine for the price! Within a few moments of arriving at our seats we had our plate of sprouts, basil, and jalapenos. We also had water and 2 freshly baked crème puffs. The server took our order and within moments we had our meal. From that moment on I was hooked. The soup is absolutely delicious! I ordered the veggie pho which was filled with mushrooms, tofu, and rice noodles. I added some spicy sauce and the meal was complete. My husband ordered one of the many beef varieties, and his was very tasty as well. To our amazement, when we got up to pay, our bill was less than $10.00! I don't know another restaurant where a couple can get a delicious, filling dinner for under $10.00. Although the food alone was good enough to make us go back many times, the price sealed the deal. We are hooked on this place. The only negative feedback I can think of on this restaurant is that it gets really hot on a warm summer day. Sometimes the servers don't come around to refill your water, but since the meal has a lot of water/broth in it, this is barely noticeable. One day I put too much hot sauce in my soup and it became a problem, but other than that, everything has been great! Pho Than's great prices make it possible to eat out every night of the week!
